Self-Storage Facility

CBC provided Construction Observation Services for the conversion of an existing abandoned 100,000 sq. ft. factory to a public storage facility for Devon Storage in Springfield, MA. Exterior building work included new roofing, façade restoration, historic window replacement, new doors, new parking and entrance drives. Interior work included new mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, doors, and finishes as well as two new stairs and two elevators and installation of prefabricated storage units.

Our services included:

• On-site inspections and quality control

• Weekly contractor status and coordination meetings

• Weekly progress reports with photographs

• Developed Work Breakdown Schedules (WBS) to improve coordination with all Contractors to keep the project on schedule

• Reviewed A & E drawings to determine if any issues and discrepancies with code and existing conditions that need to be resolved to avoid schedule delays

• Issued field sketches to A & E to resolve issues faster and to the contractors to improve quality and constructability

• Reviewed contractor change request to confirm if justified and cost is reasonable

• Developed punch list and work list to complete prior to building occupancy and turnover to the Owner
